Washing Machine Not Draining? Here's What's Really Going On
Opening the door to a puddle of grey water is one of the most common washing machine faults we see — and one of the easiest to fix.
The number one cause is a blocked drain pump filter. Most front-loaders have a small access panel at the bottom-right. Lay towels down, unscrew the filter and clear out any coins, hair clips or debris.
If the filter is clean, check the drain hose at the back for kinks or a blockage where it enters the standpipe.
Still no drainage? The drain pump itself may have failed — you'll usually hear it humming without water actually moving. That's a straightforward repair, and it's exactly the kind of job we stock parts for in-van.
A washer that won't drain will often refuse to spin, because modern machines detect water and disable spin for safety. Fix the drainage and the spin cycle usually returns.
